JC4Me Art | An Angel Sculpture by Lewis Burke

Lewis Burke

This siWP_20150611_003x foot wire sculpture was inspired by a number of winged projects and Greek mythology.

Icarus was the main story I was looking at; the man with angel wings of wax. Sadly WP_20150611_002the story ended when Icarus’s wings melted and he fell to his death!

But this only inspired the aesthetics, for the story behind it is far simpler. An angel, bound at the hands and feet, yet still able to spread it’s wings.

The piece was assembled in 10 hours and was donated to my school in south London where it hangs in the art faculty as a reminder that that even if you are silenced by the law God can still hear your praise.
