Faith Talks | Stay in Your Lane by Natasha Kamuna

It’s been a long time for all of us in The Collective, so I guess it’s fitting we’ve got a collective return for both #LambMag & #LordOutLoud & Founder Natasha. She’s been back on a full fledged writing spree, and here’s one she wanted you guys especially to read: Stay in Your Lane.

With everyone advancing how do you stay focused on your lane?

It is easy to fall back and start walking whilst the race is going on, once you fall back you may just plan to catch your breath for a minute. But, have you noticed that once you take a step back those thoughts flood in.

Thoughts of doubt. Thoughts of comparison. Thoughts of negativity.

You never even intended to begin thinking like this but you just found yourself behind from where you thought you’d be and that’s where it starts. You begin to overthink.

Hold on, what if I can’t do this?

What if this isn’t for me?

How did I get here?

This state is where the enemy loves to creep in and try to overtake you. You will start feeling more sorry for yourself and wonder how you got there. But, the most important thing to remember is that 2 Corinthians 1:20 ‘’for no matter, how many promises God has made, they are ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ in Christ’’. The promises that God has given you will come to flourish but it takes time. In the generation that we live in, where we want everything now, now, now we don’t know what it means to even wait. In fact, some of us have never waited on God.

Ultimately, to wait on The Lord ensures that you are totally submitted and have surrendered to him. Staying in your lane requires you to look within yourself and ask God to make sure that you have a pure heart in all that you are doing. Psalm 51:10 ‘’create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me’’. Creating a pure heart means that everything that you will be doing will come out of a genuine spirit. You will not be doing things for the sake of the appraisal of man but you are just doing things to serve God. In order to have a pure heart you’ll have to change aspects of who you are by allowing God to mould you into the person that he has called you to be instead of you trying to mould yourself. This will not work. Most of us are trying to fit ourselves into the shoes that have been given to us instead of God being the one to help us fit into those shoes.

Being able to stay in lane means that you will b e more focused on the purpose that God has called you for. We need to make sure that we stay focused on just ourselves and not dwelling on what others are doing around us or where they are going. It is easy to fall into the trap of competition. Although, seeing others doing well can be the motivation and drive to push you to be more and do more it is a dangerous nature to adopt. This is where you lose focus and start running in someone else’s lane. This will cause you to get disqualified.

One of the biggest lessons that God taught me last year was that in order for you to gain what he has obtained for you to have, you have to get it yourself. We are crying out to God saying that we are waiting on his word and then we will move but some of us will be waiting a long time for this word. As God has given you everything that you need and most of the time he is just waiting on you to move.

You are where you are for a reason and it is only YOU, yes YOU, that can fully understand what this reason is. When you spend more time with God, understanding his character and what he means to you, you’ll be able to comprehend that you are in your sphere of influence for a reason. 1 Peter 2:9 says ‘’you are a CHOSEN people, a ROYAL priesthood, a holy nation, God’s SPECIAL possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out’’. God has chosen you for this time, wherever you are, whether you think that you are not doing enough or you think that you are doing too much God sees every effort that you make. One scripture that is so profound for me is 1 Samuel 16:7 ‘’for man looks at the outward appearance, but The Lord looks at the heart’’.

Look at your heart and ask yourself what lane you’re in
